About Dubai Futures Forum:

The Dubai Future Forum is an annual event hosted by the Dubai Future Foundation at the iconic Museum of the Future that brings together futurists, foresight practitioners, thought leaders, and experts from academia and various industries as well as government to anticipate challenges, imagine opportunities, share foresight, and shape the future.

Victoria was asked to moderate a panel "From Hindsight to Foresight: How Can We Tap into Indigenous Wisdom to Prepare for the Future?" and will also share key insights from this discussion.

About The Speakers:

Alice Dimond (Kāi Tahu) is a social innovator designing solutions for a more equitable future for Māori.

Alice works at Tokona te Raki – Māori Future Makers, leading projects to find solutions to complex social challenges, such as racism, inequity, mana motuhake and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership.

Recently Alice has been involved in a project to design Te Korekoreka, a Māori kawa or process for creating better futures. Te Korekoreka offers a way to reconnect with mātauranga Māori and indigenous knowledge to help design systems that work for everyone.

Victoria Mulligan is the Design Principal at X is Y, where she leads the consultancy’s ways of working practice. She is a builder of things - teams, strategies, services and futures - and uses strategic foresight and participatory futures tools to create more resilient and adaptive strategies, and purposeful cultures.

She is the co-founder of the Speculative Futures Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland chapter of Design Futures Initiative, and has recently been working on a project to map the network of Futures practitioners in Aotearoa New Zealand; Aotearoa Futures Network Map.

Victoria trained as a psychologist and worked in government and NGOs around the world before joining the private sector. A regular contributor to consumer and academic publications, Victoria is a thought leader at the intersection of design, innovation, business and social good. She lives in Grey Lynn, Auckland with her husband and four young children.
